| Asbestos and Hazardous Materials Inspections/Registers |
The Asbestos/Hazardous Materials register involves a survey of all accessible areas of the building for the type, condition and extent of any asbestos/hazardous building materials that might be present, including asbestos, lead in paint, lead in dust and PCB’s.
An Asbestos/Hazardous Materials Register will constitute an Asbestos Register under the National Occupational Health & Safety Commission (NOHSC) Code of Practice for the Safe Removal of Asbestos 2nd Edition [NOHSC: 2002(2005)] and the Code of Practice for Management and Control of Asbestos in Workplaces [NOHSC: 2018(2005)] and will conform to the requirements of the NSW Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000 and the NSW Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2001. |
|
| Airborne Asbestos Monitoring |
An airborne asbestos monitoring run involves the use of monitors to determine an estimate of airborne asbestos fibre concentrations in selected areas/environments.
An air monitoring report will be produced to present the results of the monitoring in compliance with the NSW Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2001, the National Occupational Health and Safety Commission (NOHSC) Code of Practice for the Safe Removal of Asbestos 2nd Edition [NOHSC: 2002(2005)], NOHSC the Code of Practice for Management and Control of Asbestos in Workplaces [NOHSC: 2018(2005)], and the NOHSC Guidance Note on the Membrane Filter Method for Estimating Airborne Asbestos Fibres 2nd Edition [NOHSC: 3003 (2005)].
Getex is NATA accredited for asbestos fibre counting and air volume measurement. |
|
| Asbestos Clearance Certificates |
Following removal of asbestos materials the area will be inspected to determine that all asbestos materials have been removed to a satisfactory industry standard. Following a successful inspection an asbestos clearance certificate will be issued.
Getex has extensive experience in providing clearance inspections and certificates following WorkCover requests for an inspection from a qualified hygienist. |
|
| Soil Investigations/Management |
On sites where there may have been historical dumping of asbestos contaminated fill it may be a requirement to undertake a subsurface investigation to determine the presence/extent of asbestos contaminated soil. If asbestos contaminated soil is identified it is required to be treated as Friable Asbestos under the WorkCover definition. Treatment may include:
- Removal Undertaken by or under the supervision of an AS1 licensed contractor. Encapsulation Capping the asbestos contaminated soil with a suitable encapsulation medium. This option may require an ongoing asbestos management plan to be prepared and implemented.

|
| Air Monitoring and Sample Analysis |
Getex provide sample collection and analysis services for asbestos, lead in paint, lead in dust, synthetic mineral fibres (SMF), PCB’s and other hazardous materials.
| Risk Assessments & Management Plans |
| A risk assessment is simply an examination of a place or process for sources of potential danger/harm (hazards) to people adjusted for the likelihood of them to give potential risk. All potential risks/hazards must be mitigated to an acceptable level through the hierarchy of control: |
 |
Elimination - controlling the hazard at source. |
 |
Substitution - eg. replacing one substance or activity with a less hazardous one. |
 |
Engineering - eg. installing guards on machinery |
 |
Administration - policies and procedures for safe work practices |
 |
Personal Protective Equipment - eg respirators, ear plugs. |
|
| |
| A Management Plan prepared by Getex is a living document that ensures that potential risks are continually assessed and managed. The Management Plan details all of the hazards and the mitigation requirements to maintain a safe workplace. The Management Plan ensures that regular checks of the hazards are undertaken and signed off by a competent person. |

| Removal/Treatment Work Plans (Scope Of Works) |
| A Removal/Treatment Works Plan or Scope of Works Report is an important document in ensuring that your remediation project is undertaken correctly and in accordance with relevant environmental and occupational guidelines/standards. A Scope of Works report prepared by Getex will ensure that the responsibilities of each party is clearly defined and that the works are undertaken in an efficient and cost effective manner. |
|
| Project Management and Supervision |
| In projects of a sensitive nature or of large scale it may be a requirement to have an experienced professional consultant supervise the works to ensure that they are carried out in accordance with the Scope Of Works Report. Another advantage is if a change to the situation occurs e.g. a new hazard is identified, quick and decisive advice can be supplied and actions implemented immediately. |
