Lee McAlister-Smiley BEng (Env)

Prior to establishing GETEX Mr McAlister-Smiley has extensive experience in the hazardous materials industry through his role as Client Services Manager at another leading Environmental & OH&S consultancy (2002 – 2005). In addition, Lee is an experienced consultant who has undertaken a range of OHS and environmental projects involving site supervision, literally hundreds of hazardous materials surveys, indoor air quality and asbestos management services.
Lee recently completed a 4 month project involving the surveying of over 240 QLD Health buildings for asbestos and the formulation of an electronic asbestos register. The asbestos surveys involved buildings within the cyclone ravaged areas of Innisfail, Babinda and Tully, the City of Cairns, the Torres Strait Islands, Weipa District, Cape York Aboriginal communities and Atherton Tablelands. The asbestos survey included large hospital facilities, medical centres and accommodation buildings. The large scale coupled with the remoteness of some of the facilities required careful planning and detailed structuring of the survey program as often flights in and out of the communities could be weeks apart.
